The University City Network started in January 2017, in direct response to the Keith Lamont Scott shooting on September 20, 2016 and the civil unrest that followed. Christian leaders in the University City and Hidden Valley areas of north Charlotte gather regularly for prayer, relationship-building, and strategic collaboration focused on community transformation.
Ultimate transformation is the Lord’s work, of course, but a significant vehicle through which He does that work is the church…so if you are ministering in this area, we need you at the table! We cannot hope to best serve this area of our city without your valuable input and leadership. That being said, we would like to invite you to join us for one or both of our regular gatherings:
1) We believe that prayer is essential, so Christian leaders get together to pray every Friday from 7:30am-8:30am at Camino Community Center. We intercede generally for our area of the city, as well as for the specific needs of those who attend. No need to RSVP. Just come if and when you can.
2) We also meet on the second Wednesday of each month, from 10:30am-12:00pm, for strategic collaboration. Faith leaders gather with civic officials and community leaders from the University City/Hidden Valley area, so that we in the faith community are aware of the needs of our part of the city, and so that we can build relationships and work together for the greatest collective impact. We choose to move our meeting location around to various churches and civic agencies, so as to better get to know one another. In addition to pastors and ministry leaders, our city councilperson regularly joins us, as does the captain of the University City division of CMPD and leaders from UNCC, Atrium Hospital University, University City Partners, and University City Connect.
If you are a pastor in the University City/Hidden Valley areas, please contact us at the information to the right if you have any questions or would like information on the next meeting. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming gathering!
